Well im not going to do this but im just curious...

In canada, can you get arrested for trying to use a fake ID to buy liquor at a liquor store?

Like you would go in, grad a bottle of somthing, go up to the cash, they ask you for your ID, and you show the fake one. And they know its a fake. Do they tell you to get out, or do they make you stay while they call the cops?

Im just curious...

  1. you will go to jail..plain and simple..even if you leave they can find you..

  2. --- I would guess it is the same as in the USA. He will keep the ID as proof that you were trying to sucker him. That takes him off the hook for being cited for selling to a minor. Then its up to him if he follows through and calls police right away or not. Some Owners just collect the cards and cut them up while others hold onto you and call the police right away.

    --- Its big time serious to try and use a false ID in the State of Wisconsin and if you are caught you will be arrested for a misdemeanor offense of possession and use of a false ID and for minor attempting to procure alcoholic beverages.

    --- The first offense false ID violation has a $435 fine and automatic revocation of your drivers license for 90 days and the attempting to procure charge has a fine of about $435 and license revocation.

    IN WISCONSIN:

    [a]Providing a False ID:

    (This is a criminal offense)

    Any person who makes, alters, or duplicates an official ID card, or provides an official ID card to an underage person, may be fined $435 on first offense and imprisoned for up to 90 days.

    --- [a] - IN WISCONSIN it is illegal for persons under the legal drinking age to:

    (1) Purchase, procure, or attempt to procure, alcoholic beverages;

    ....

    (4) Obtain an I.D. card with inaccurate information

    (5) Misrepresent his or her age for obtaining alcohol;

    (6) Carry false identification

    Penalties:

    Possession of false ID Card, makes, provides, alters : (This is a criminal offense)

    First Offense                $435.00   DL loss 90 days

    Second Offense          $501.00            1 year

    Third Offense               $748.00            2 years

    Fourth Offense             $1049.00

    Procuring from licensed premises:

    First Offense             $435

    Second                      $501

    Third                           $748

    Fourth                         $1049

    see [a] in source box

    ADDITIONAL COSTS:

    --- Reinstatement of license after suspension costs $50.

    --- An occupational license, during loss of driving privileges, costs $40. This license severely limits when and where you may drive.

    --- Auto Insurance Rates Go Up:

    ........Auto insurance rates may double or triple for 3 to 5 years after loss of license for an underage drinking law violation, even if you were not driving at the time of citation! And your parent's auto insurance coverage may be affected if your insurance is part of their policy.

    --- See [a] - the WIS drinking law explained and with details & penalties at the url/link I placed in the source box [a].

  3. That is up to the store clerk whether they call the police or not.

    Often times, at least in the US, checks are made by the Alcohol Beverage Control Board to make sure the sales laws are complied with.

    If the clerk refuses the sale...they are in compliance with the law.
