Ive been going to private school my whole life..now im going to a public high school...help??

im kind of freaked out..ive been goig to a private school my entire life and i kind of like it..i now it may not be a teen's first choice...but i felt safe there and had a good amount of friends...im always hearing in the news how there;s gang fights and even deaths at public schools!wtf....it scared me...the public school im going to is supposed to be the best one in all of the city...but my cousin goes there and she still says its not as good there.what are diffrences and stuff?what do i need to watch out for?its freshman year of high school!!help!?!

i'v been in a public school since 4th grade

and it was my decision to go back to public school for high school

i started 9th grade a couple weeks ago

and it isnt scary at all

everyone seems nice and i have already made friends

soem differences are

its bigger so you may get lost

there are alot of people  but at my school everyone seems nice

and well thats all i can think of

i have went to a public school all my life and its not as bad as people think...i dont really like the private schools around where i live because most of them are stuck up and always thought that they are so much better than me (i dont know how the private schools are that you went to) but seriously public schools are not bad at all just make sure you pick the right people to hang out with and everything will be fine but im sure thats its already gonna be stressful for you because its freshman year....

dont worry too much ive been through the same thing and made it through alright...even though public schools dont have the best rep. its not like walking into a prison and look you already have a friend/family member there so youll be fine.

Oh whatever! There are no gang fights at my school, and never in the history of the school has someone been murdered! I think they are just trying to scare you. When you go to public school, you get to meet alot of different people. The only thing you need to watch out for is the bathrooms! Don't go in them unless its a life or death situation! Learn to hold your pee and you will be fine! They are nasty and they stink so bad! Just try talking to people and making new friends. It helps that your cousin goes there, atleast you know someone! And fights are really fun to watch, just don't stand too close! There were only 3 fights at my school last year, and none of them were that bad.. You will be fine, I promise!

I came from a private school too but I transferred to a public high school when I entered high school. I thought it was gonna be so icky mingling with poverty people but it's so not like what I expected.

It's just like your normal private school but some people will kinda have cheaper tastes but people in public schools are actually cool. You'll be surprised that some people there are actually in public schools and not private ones.

It's also good for you 'cause you'll expand your circle of friends and acquaintances and you'll be more exposed to the world.

It's not like that. If you live in a bad neighborhood then yes, It would be like that but as far as I know...Public schools are the same as any other school...The diffrence is....Private you wear uniforms...Public...You wear whatever you want...Another diffrence is....You pay for Private school...You don't for Public...Theres not as much diffrence.. Don't be scared theres not much of a diffrence Well =] Good =) Lucks =P

Etto....ok so i went to public school k-3, private 4-5 and public 6-now and basically what ive learned is that private school is too overprotective with their students. in public school you will be opened up to different backgrounds and granted not everything is censored. public school is a odd transiftion even though i was already in it all you need to know is that it will be a tad harder on you because its less secure and the teachers are less of your friends than most

i went through the same exact thing i went from a tiny school of about 100 pre-k through 12th grade. i just left my high school with about 2,500 people in it! its really no big deal and it is so much better just remember to be yourself cause thats when you will meet your true firends

It's not a big deal. Private schools overrate how "scary" public schools are.

There is more drama, yes. More cliques, yes. And probably more violence and drugs. But it doesn't always have to affect you. Make the right friends and you'll be fine.

My Tips For You Would Be; Dont Expect Everywhere To be Clean,

It's Not, And People Always Find A Way Around The Uniform So On Your First Day Dont Do Up Your Blazer, Unless You See Everyone Else The Same.

Dont Blend In And Clone Everyone, But Try Not To Stand Out Like A Black Sock In A White Wash :P

Just Lay Low Until You Know What's What And Who's Who :)
