  1. you might trying not to swing completely through the ball---just punch it.---when you punch it you have to swing through but stop the club short of a full follow through.  --its espically good on short shots to keep it low.

  2. I have the same problem.

Instead of hitting down on the ball (which is a good thing most of the time) sweep the ball off the turf. You will get a lower flight, and likely a draw, defiantly more distance. I try to stay away form low iron shots, it’s not my typical game. Seriously, the only club that distance really matters is driver. If you need to hit 5-iron 170, hit 5-iron 170, and on the green. What are the advantages of hitting 7-iron low and hard, 170?.. non that I can think of.

  3. I usually hit the ball pretty high on my shots. This is not necessarily a bad thing. As long as you are getting the ball on the green with your approach shot, a high trajectory will have the ball stopping on the green and not rolling much.

You didn't mention where you have the ball in your stance. If it is too far forward, your swing may be on its way back up and so you are hitting up on the ball. This could also result in skulling the ball. In this case move the ball back a bit in your stance.

The other reason the ball gets a high trajectory is by coming down on the ball at a steeper angle. In this case your weight could be too far forward at impact. You can correct this by working on shifting your weight less during the swing.

Remember to always practice these things on the driving range and never during a round of golf. Never introduce new techniques on the course. It will ruin the game you are playing and it will do more to frustrate you and make you think that the new technique doesn't work. Bring it to the course after practicing it to the point of being comfortable with it. Then you can tell if it is improving your game or not.

  4. Put the ball a little closer to center in your stance. Not so far up.

  5. a couple of good answers here but you are not hitting up on the ball.  It is on the ground how do hit up on it?  You could be leaving the face slightly open in which case the ball would miss short and right. Or you may not have your hands in front of the ball as you make contact.  This adds loft to the club and makes for slightly worse contact leaving your shots short but not offline.  Make sure your hands are slightly in front of the ball as you contact it.

  6. If you are not taking a big divot and you are hitting them crip and straight, this may not be a bad thing.  You might be doing exactly what you are supposed to do.  Take another look at it.  If you need more distance, then use more club.

  7. besides all the previous answers your ball could have a little effect on your ball flight. If you are using a distance ball with a hard cover that could also cause your ball flight to be high. A hard cover slides up the face, a softer cover grabs the face and does not launch as high.

  8. Move the ball back in your stance. The further back in your swing that you hit the ball the steeper the club face when you hit it.  The steeper the club face the lower the ball when it comes out

If you start hitting grounders move the ball back forward.

  9. move the ball back in your stance
