  1. I wouldn't start with a 10gal go bigger i found the bigger the tank the easier it is to care for.Sounds like you are ready. You will love it.Enjoy and Good Luck to you.

  2. on a 10 gallon you're extremely limited on how many fish you can put in there

    as for what you need

live sand 10 pounds about $20

cured live rock about 10-15 pounds about $50-80

aqua clear filter rated up to 20 gallons $37

another good submersible filter about $20

    as for fish

occellarius clown fish $25-40 depending on size

fire fish $15-30 depending on size

snails $2-10 dollars depending on which ones you get a piece

shrimps $3-40 dollars also depending on which ones you get a piece

i know the prices, because i myself just converted my 10 gallon about 3 months ago

  3. the best thing about saltwater tanks is that you dont need many fish because some of the corals you can buy are amazing.

  4. When you want to set up a salt water tank you will need a large tank. The smaller the tank the harder it is to keep it regulated. You will need at least a 50 gallon tank to get you started.A 100 gallon plus is the best. For a decent tank and all the live sand, corals ,fish and other chemicals you need it will end up costing you about $2,000 or better.Salt water tanks are so expensive and so is the upkeep. You will have to buy special lighting depending on what type of fish and corals you choose to have.If you would like a good idea of how much it will cost, you can talk to your local pet shop. You can also look at drsfosterandsmith.com to see all their supplies and articles they have on the subject. You will also be able to see how much it will cost.A 10 gallon tank wont do it.If you had a 30 gallon that would be a better start. For a beginner bigger is best.
