I brought some meat today from a large supermarket. It was reduced however when I looked at the packet I noticed it said "USE BY" and not best before. This is illegal apparently, shall I complain? maybe they will compensate me with some free useable meat?

  1. If you complain, yes, you'll probably get your money back, but you need to look at the label before you purchase food, especially meat.

If it's beef, it's okay to have it past the sell-by date (because beef is already aged when you get it in the store); if it's pork or chicken, though -- yipes -- take it back!

  2.   as long as it is not slimmy it is good. beef will be dark and will be fine and pork will will be grey and as long as no slim is will be good. if it is chicken and turns grey and smells like sulfur than it is no good, other wise it is fine.

meat is reduced in some chains stores and others do not but it does help with lower the cost to the customer so it can be a good buy.

when you by it like that either cook or freeze right away.

  3. When is the use by date? If it is today or after, then it is yours, that's why it was discounted. By if it was before today then they will give you your money back since they sold you an unusable product. That is the worst, it seems to happen to me all the time. But it is not discounted it out in the regular shelves and I get home and it is expired. It really ticks me off but I never take it back, I just throw it out.

  4. that is nasty i think that you should go complain i know i would and if it was reduced they probably wanted someone who wanted to eat it the same day to buy it or maybe they had it there for a while and forgot to throw it out
