  1. 36x² - 16y⁴

    = 4(3x + 2y²)(3x - 2y²)

    25x³y^8 - 35x⁴y^5

    = 5x³y^5(5y^3 - 7x)

  2. for the second, take out the GCF first:

    5x^3y^5(5y^3 - 7x)

    that looks like it!

    the first is a difference of squares:

    36 = 6^2

    16 = 4^2

    y^4 = (y^2)^2

    difference of squares factor as (a - b)(a + b) = a^2 - b^2

    so (6x - 4y^2)(6x + 4y^2)

    but you can take a factor of 2 out of each, to give:

    4(3x - 2y^2)(3x + 2y^2)

  3. both problems are pretty simple

    1st problem: 36x^2 - 16y^4

    4(9x^2 - 4y^4) = 4(3x - 2y^2)(3x + 2y^2)

    2nd problem: 25x^3y^8 - 35x^4y^5

    =   5x^3y^5(5y^3 - 7x)
