  1. It is highly unlikely it will grow as tall or have the same flower size or color.

The seeds you buy in packages are most certainly hybrid seeds and will not come true when planted from their flowers.

That doesn’t mean you can’t plant them and see what happens. You may end up with a number of different plant sizes and shades of yellow. One may be more spectacular than what you started out with.

And there IS the possibility; you will end up with the same sunflower.

I have Maximilian Sunflowers that reseed themselves each year and they always look the same. After the first planting I have yet to re-seed the area.

  2. They should certainly grow but whether they will be as big depends on various factors such as pollination, weather, site etc

  3. They won't grow at all if you don't protect it from being eaten by the birds.  When the seeds are ready the birds know it and clamor all over the plant for it's goodness.  As far as being as big as next year as this year if it's a hybrid then it probably won't.

  4. they may but the really giant ones can also produce smaller plants .

    save some seeds and try.

  5. Please leave it for the birds to eat, you will get enjoyment watching them and you can always get more seeds next year. ☼.
