  1. Perfectly fine. My dad's new hunting dog he's getting this week, who is over a year old, is currently named "Abby". That's my name, so they're changing the dog's name.

Dogs in shelters have their names changed all the time. There's no way to know what a stray dog's name originally was, so they give it a new name.

Here's a *bunch* of dog names:

    .

  2. Popular name - I have a dog called that lol. Anyway, if you really want to change it then do. At 17 months it's not too bad to change it. Dogs listen more to the way you say their name then what you are actually saying. Maybe keep the name short. For example, Sam

  3. Teddy

    Mawi

    or Mac

    so it is kinda

    like Max but not

    Hope i could help!!!

  4. I suggest Jackson! it sounds allot like Max so it wont be hard to pick up!

  5. No, it's never too late to change a dog's name.  I've changed the names of very old dogs before when they came into rescues.  You just start calling them by that name, and give them treats when they respond (or attention, a game, etc.)  With time, they'll look at you for that name.

  6. ummmm, im sorry to hear.

no you can still change it

  8. You can change a dog's name whenever, just make sure you use the new one all the time.

    Arthur.

My next dog will be called Arthur.

  9. Just call your new dog whatever you want to.  It isn't the "name" they respond to, it is your tone of voice.  Our dogs have about 5 different names and nick names we call them and they probably don't really know what their name is, they just hear a tone of voice and respond to it.

  10. Well, yes you CAN change his name, but i dont think you should because I am guessing at 17 months he already knows it. If you change his name, he will get confused and it will take a lot of practice to learn a new name. Go ahead and change his name if you want, but he will not respond to it for a while

  11. It's never too late to change a dog's name. You just have to remember never to use his old name so he gets used to his new name. I suggest Ralph.

  12. i use to have a rottie his name was ben

  13. No use both names he will get used to the new one in time.

He will remember the old one

  14. We had a Rottie and he was called Troy.

  15. You can change it, he's actually still young so no problem there, maybe try something similar to max, then he could pick it up easier. maybe matt, or Jack...

  16. why not max2 he won"t get confused neither will you

  17. What about Stig!

  18. id keep it as max , it may be nice to think its a sign and that he should be YOUR dog.  actually i just thought that it may be upsetting for you, i think jake is a good name for that breed, that or bubbles.
