  1. One step at a time.  Try the 10-week schedule below.  The Marines are a great organization and your hard work will in sticking to a running plan will help you survive in the corps!  ooo-rah.

  2. just start w/ running a little tiny bit like a block or so and like every two days up it a little bit until u get to 1.5 miles. And once you can run that far keep running longer it will make you be able to take a race in a faster time and it will be easier.

  3. How can anyone not know what the United States Marine Corp is ?! Sorry just felt like pointing that out, my dad was in the Marines.

I say start getting into shape and you should be fine..1.5 miles isn't too bad as long as you start training. Even 10 miles a week would be okay, I would think. Hit the gym, do whatever you think will help.

    but good luck!

  4. walk, walk fast, walk slow, walk everywhere, walk everyday. as u lose weight you'll be able to jog, then run. your best best is to prepare for a 5k. the PFT once you're in is 3 miles.

check out this beginners jog/walk program. its set at 8 weeks, but u can repeat the weeks if u want. seriously...its a great prog.

  5. Hey man great stuff wanting to join the corps i am going to parris island in 2 months time to be exact. anyways i couldnt run when i talked to a recruiter i was a fat body know i am lean for my build and i can run 6 or 7 miles you name it i can do it. anyways just keep at it. The best thing to build confidence is go to the track you can realy apreciate your gains when you make them. try to run around it once then the next day push for quicker or longer and keep at it you can do it if i could and i never participated in sports. I sure wish I would have i would have a even better body then know

  6. I don't know what USMC is, but like preparing for anything you start training now! Try getting your heartbeat up for long periods of time (that is, 30 minutes straight). You can do this from walking fast/jogging. Get your heart in shape first.
