  1. yes i have this problem. except what was worse for me was that the gumline over only one of my 2 front teeth has receeded. like alot! so it looked...weird.

so what i did: first i went to see this periodontist who did a check up on my gums. he said we could do this procedure where he basically cuts some away. i thought about this and thought okay..sounds painful but alright if its the only option out there.......

then i got braces and then i got them off almost 2 yrs later.

then my dentist told me, he was always aware of how i wanted to fix my gums, that he went to the states to learn this brand new procedure. im sorry i cant rmemeber the exact anme of it, but they use this tool that actually uses water to cut away the gums. and best of all: NO NEEDLES! no anesthetic was needed!!! it took like what? 10-15 mins maybe?? it was scary at first, i mean i was worried about the laser (they call the water thing a laser) and stuff but really it was so...easy and fast and painless!!!

the only thing is i dont think this is available too many places yet. like, my dentist was the only dentist in my province to have gotten a certificate and be educated in how to do the procedure. the healing time for this is alot faster and alot less painful than the tradition way.

but i guess if this new way isnt available to you, you can always go with the old way...i dont think its considered a surgery, jsut a procedure.

it really makes a difference. it will probaably fall under "cosmetic surgery" so you may not be covered for it, but my dentist was able to pull some strings and get some of it covered for me! anyways, i hope some of this information has helped you

  2. Hi - Your problem is actually very common.  This may be done with Laser Re-contouring.  Usually no anesthetic is required with laser re-contouring and the results are excellent, with no discomfort.  You will need to find a dentist who is trained in laser surgery and can evaluate whether you are a good candidate.  I have a little website on Laser Dentistry that has some info on lasers here: http://robertgougaloff.netdds.net/Laser%...

I am currently updating this portion, so check back frequently for new info and pictures, but it has some basic info already.

  3. Hey, i had a mild problem with gums too.

I just brushed them, i know it sounds weird but now my teeth and gums are perfect.  Just brush them as if they are teeth and do a salt wash to kill any other germs.

If this doesnt work, then you may need to go to a doc.
