I got my septum pierced on May 10 so it has been around 3 1/2 months, i know it generally takes around 2-3 months to heal, and it started out really sore and the it subsided some to just being sore on the tip of my nose and the septum when you touch it (with pressure). It does not hurt if i rotate the horseshoe or hide it upwards (which it is most of the time) .around the holes sometimes it can be a little red and look a little swollen, but at the same time i cant tell if that's how the holes are supposed to look because it is all cartilage. So basically wondering if it sounds infected or its just taking longer to heal.

I have a monroe and it healed perfectly fairly quick as well as my tragus so I haven't really had this problem before.

  1. Are you still doing sea salt soaks? if not you should be, it will help with the soreness.

the best thing that you can do is go have a piercer look at your septum. You may just be taking longer to heal.

Septum piercings are not through cartilage. They are actually through the fleshy part right behind the cartilage in your septum. If yours actually is though cartilage (which i doubt), you got pierced in the wrong spot and that is probably part of your problem.

but I amphasize again, go get it looked at by a piercer. By now you shouldn't be having an problems with your piercing.

if you had an infection, it would be hot to the touch on top of being sore and you'd have pus coming out that was green, brown, red or some other unusual color.

    best of luck to you
