  1. the resort i went to had a gallon of water at the sink for our tooth brushes. it is very dangerous to drink their water if we aren't used to it.

  2. My family and I drank bottled water in DR. Out of habit, I brushed my teeth one time using water from the tap in our resort. I got mildly sick at best.

We ate food cooked with water and drank liquids mixed with it at the resort. The rest of the family was fine.

On the other hand, I took very thorough precautions in Cancun and got terribly sick.

We have visited most of the Caribbean destinations, and you will find you have to take the same precautions on most islands.

The bottom line is that the odds are in your favor if you are careful. But there are no guarantees.

One other tip: take showers with mouthwash to keep your mouth closed and prevent shower water from getting you sick.

  3. yes..the resort i stayed at used all bottled water.

  4. It isn't a question of "bad" - it's what your system is used to.  To be safe, you should only drink bottled or purified water on any of the islands in the Caribbean.
