mon. chest

tues. back

wed. bicep

thurs.tricep

fri. shoulder

sat. rest

sun legs

thatd be better than working out each muscle 2x a week in split form?? cuz then each muscle would rest 7 days idk if that's a good thing or a bad thing i thought u should workout the muscle group 2x a week (each one) so that's what ive been doing..which one is better sites would be nice also if u have any

  1. Muscles will typically only take 48 hours to recover until you can do your next workout.

However, by giving each muscle more than 48 hours of rest you are giving it maximum rest for it to recover and grow, which is why many programs work each muscle only once a week.

Working out a muscle twice a week is fine, though.  Just make sure you don't go over twice a week.

    This is my training split:

    Monday: Deltoids, Triceps

    Tuesday: Traps

    Wednesday: OFF

    Thursday: Legs, Forearms

    Friday: Chest, Biceps

    Saturday: OFF

    Sunday: OFF

I found this split at the following site:

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/south10....

This split gives each muscle a week of rest, working each muscle once a week.  Max-OT also listed that you should be getting 5-7 days of rest per muscle, and they seem to be leaning more towards 7 days of rest per muscle.

    Best of luck!

  2. You don't need a full 5-7 usually.  There is no better way.  Different things work better for different people.  You have to remember that everyones body is different.

If you've been making good progress(increases in weights) training each muscle 2x a week then theres no reason to change it.  No reason trying to fix something that isn't broken.

But if you've been having trouble making progress that way lately then switching it so your muscles get a full week to recover isn't a bad idea.  Then you see how that works for you.

  3. As long as you are only training each muscle group once a week you're fine.

A 3 day a week alternating day split is the best.  that way you give yourself a day between to recover a bit.

Working each muscle on a day is too much as well.

I'll give you 2 good splits.

    Monday: Chest/Triceps

    Tuesday: rest or cardio

    Wednesday: Back/Biceps

    Thursday: rest or cardio

    Friday: Legs/Shoulders

    Weekend: off

    or

    Monday: Chest/Biceps

    Tuesday: rest or cardio

    Wednesday: Back/Triceps

    Thursday: Rest or cardio

    Friday: Legs/Shoulders

    Weekend: off

Chest, Back and legs are larger muscles so they need to be trained first.

There are plenty ways to design your splits so those are just examples.

Just search the net for information on how to design a good routine.

  4. really they should only take 3 days to fully recover unless they are legs which can be a pain if worked too hard. working out a muscle group a day like you are is a very good way of doing things and is how i do it so that msucles can recover fully and it also allows you to work a muscle group harder and concerntrate on understanding it.

as above said it is helpful to switch around your workouts every now and again to not allow your body to get into a routine and slowdown in growth, every now and then just throw in a weeks worth of split muscle group sessions and work the muscles with light weight and focus on form to give them a break.
