7 acres parcel of agricultural land, there is a septic tank that is owned by the bungalow oppsite, in the land registry title is states that ' the septic tank tinted green on the map is excluded from the title' it doesnt actually say but i would have thought that they have got a right of access for maintenance, however i have noticed for the last 15-20 years that they have never maintained the tank, are they legally responsible to maintain / empty this tank every so often? what route should i take to ensure they start looking after it - environmental health?? council? serious answers only,

  1. TallPaul is right, if you are friendly with them then just go and politely ask. Unless it is the world's biggest septic tank it would need to be emptied in 20 years! You just may not have noticed, maybe you have been out when it was emptied - it's not a big job. Failing that then you could talk to the council but I'd try just speaing to the couple.

  2. Knock on their door and talk to them.
