Ive just had a key meter fitted for my electricity n put 10poubd on and its down to 6.89?

i only put ten pound on yestday, i turn everything off wen not using things,i dont leave anything on standby, ive worked it out ill need to put 20 pound on a week wen my mum leaves all her things on stanby leaves lights on and she puts 20pound a month on can anyone tell me what they think

  1. I think you should've got a meter where you pay quarterly bills - I only pay £40 a QUARTER - you're putting that in every 2 weeks - if you can budget sensibly for a quarterly bill, it's FAR cheaper.

  3. You do have to pay a weekly charge for electricity as well as useage and you may be in arrears or have used some emergency credit. My meter had been off for a while when I was away and it did the same thing when I topped it up.

  4. Some things like washing machines and tumble dryers, cookers etc use massive amounts of electricty

  5. The power firms (except British Gas) charge a fee/standing charge for using the pre-payment key meter, could be whats taken such a big chunk of the tenner.
