  1. If it's new the smell should go away in a little while.  Most products that are made of steel get coated with a substance to prevent rusting.

  2. 1) is the smoke coming front the front of the stove? If so change the length of exhaust pipe outside the house(longer)

    2) If the stove piping is new it may be doing a one time "break-in cycle" ... burning off the oil or paint.

    3) You have a faulty joint inside the house check visually with a strong flashlight.(fix as necessary)

    Hope it helps!

  3. When you install a stove fuel burner in a fireplace, You have to fix a flue from the stove to the narrowing of the chimney to draw any smoke and fumes up the chimney. The fireplace opening will cause turbulence which lets the smoke into the room. The smoke has to be drawn up the chimney.

  4. it may be the damper is closed or it could be the damper is open check it if you are still getting the same problem call some one in and get it checked out.

  5. If it is a light hazy smoke, then Yes, they do that.

You are supposed to burn them off a little at a time. Only burn it a little, then a little longer, then finally cook it.

I didn't do new installations but I replaced many heat exchangers on both oil and gas. I had to open all the doors and windows, pull batteries out of smoke alarms, and try not to do it all at once.

They all did that. I don't know what they coat them with or if it is part of the curing process for the paint, baking it since enamels need high temps to cure.

But I suspect what you are getting is normal. If it goes away, stops producing it after it has been up to temp, then you are fine.

    Good Luck.

  6. connect the stove flue to a chimney.
