Ive just started playing dead rising and i was wondering if you have to defeat bosses to get in new parts of?

if you finish scene 1 of act 2 it will unlock the gate seperating the entarnce plaza and the paradise plaza. Then if you beat the clown and save the guy on the ride it will unlock a seceret tunnel from the wonder plaza to the paradise plaza, handy if you dont want 2 go outside. apart from that, and the key for the tunnels near the end, you dont have to beat bosses to unlock parts of the mall. However, beating bosses can be beneficial, for acheivments and weapons (the clown carries a mini chainsaw that is increibly helpful against other bosses - will kill them in no time) hope this helps
