Hiya, Ive left school and have been for 6 interviews, and was only sucessful for one

1 at orange (the mobile provider)

1 at Apple (the computer people)

1 at bt call centre (i was successful but they had no places yet)

1 at asda

1 telephone interview with o2

1 on Tuesday for that same call centre again, and i failed it, the first time i applied was through an employment agency, and they dont deal with it anymore

So what can i do to get a job?

Could i apply at shop thats are looking people for the christmas rush, then get experience with them? then apply for further jobs?

I seen the thing on argos's website, about them wanting temporary christmas workers and that, so could i fill one of them forms out and do that, without expereince?

also i only have 3GCSES and i dont want to go back to school

Thanks!

And i do not want to know how many pounds or dollers you made with some website by selling c**p!!!

  1. Hey - Slow down a little.!

Your list of invitations to interviews with a variety of Employers speaks volumes about you.

You isolate 'experience' as being a critical factor in your not having secured a position as yet.

I put it to you that you have gained significant 'interview involved' experience that many of your contempories would give their eye teeth for. (How many in your previous Year group have even been invited to interview?.)

I realise that from your point of view it seems a cyclical question  : job = experience.

But rest assured you are doing the right things - You must decide what you personally want -  immediate Job or keep your options open and take advantage of any Educational opportunities that present in the light of new personal preferences.

    IT WILL WORK OUT.

    Best wishes.

  2. Well, the last thing you probably want to hear is advice from a 15 year old, but here goes. I think that for now, you should try to find a retail job, or a job in a restaurant, while doing volunteer work in an office or elsewhere in your free time. A lot of offices are almost always looking for administrative volunteers to help out around their offices, so you could gain experience volunteering there. Also, if you impress the boss or whoever is in charge of the volunteering services, you could land a job there, if you're lucky.

BTW, if you live in a major city or anywhere near that, and you have local businesses there, you could try places like that, instead of the larger companies where chances of employment are pretty slim for someone who left school.

  3. you can always get jobs in shops with no experience but that might not necessarily help you to get non retail jobs later in life. But it might be worth doing to help you pay for an IT course like ECDL which will enable you to get an office job in 6 month or so

  4. www.mcdcareers.co.uk/

  5. The only thing I can advise you is to keep trying. I agree with the voluntary work, it might help you a lot and just by the way, if you did go back to school, you'd still have the same problem later.

  6. You say you left school. You didn't say if you graduated.  Did you?

  7. try doing some volunteering, it impresses employers and makes you sound interesting in interviews.

  8. Try a college course or go back to school.. before long if you don't have a job you'll be considered unemployed and thats not a good look.

  9. this happens to lots of people. get a foot in the door and show your commitment by doing some voluntary work somewhere you want to owrk. go and ask in person as they'll never reply to mail. ask to speak to the manager and explain that your looking to gain some experience. even just a few hours a week.
