  1. Here's a link to a site that may help.

There are 2 models of the  Vision in 1989,  click on the one that corresponds to your boat.   Good luck with it!

  2. call the company

  3. There is probably no mystery about the boat itself. You can look all over at it, and be able to tell anything that the factory brochure can tell you. There is a plate on the stern that gives its capacity and serial number and weight.

What you need to look at is its steering gear and its wiring system, the bilge and pump, if any, and all of the running and tie-up gear. Inspect everything, and make certain that the cleats are sound, and that the fiberglass is not cracked where the fittings go through to secure them onto the boat. Check the s***w eye at the front to make  certain that it is not rusty or rusted so that it will break when you winch the boat onto the trailer.

Inspect the transom and make certain that it is solid, along with the hull. If it is an inboard/outboard check the engine, to determine that the cooling system is flushing through, and that the filters are all clean, and the engine is relatively clean and free of oil and grease.

Make certain that there is a fire extinguisher and other safety equipment on board and that all are in good condition, along with the running lights and horn.

Get used to your boat gradually, and don't try to make high-speed turns tightly until you get used to how the boat handles, or you may find yourself swimming, and watching your boat leave the area without you.

Go to the library and check out a book on small boat handling and navigating. There is a lot to learn, particularly if you are in a big lake or large river or the ocean. Learn your knots-bowline, anchor or fisherman's bend (same knot, 2 names, very useful) and tie up knots for the cleats.

You will also need to learn how to read and understand charts and the marker system, plus depth finders. I hope you have one for fishing.

Lot to learn, isn't it? Well, remember what you had to learn for a car? Same thing.

Enjoy your boat. Remember, a boat is a hole in the water, lined with fiberglass, wood, steel, or other material, into which your pour money.

    Regards,

    Dan
