ive never upgraded computer parts and whenever i go to sites that have cpu parts they ask for what kind of "socket" my computer has. what is that? intel socket 775 or whatever? how can i check wat i have?

  1. most likely you have a socket 775..... but just google the model of your computer and find the company website for it and check the specs there.... it should tell you all the info you will need for it.  


  2. You can download some programs that can help you know all your hardware  information & diagnostic utilities . The best ones are SiSoftware Sandra, and  Aida 32 . They are system analyzers, diagnostic and Reporting Assistants. They should provide most of the information including your hardware, software and other devices. They can get information about the CPU, chipset, video adapter, ports, printers, sound card, memory, network, Windows internals and many more. Or you can check your computer model in the manufacturer;s website.
