I1ve won 7 night`s s/c abroad and have to go to London to pick up the award.Problem is I have to sit through 2 hour talk about holiday homes. I`ve told them I wont buy anything but they say dont worry, you`ve won the holiday. What`s the catch?

  1. Wouldn't bother if I was you ... sounds like a hard-sell timeshare promo.

  2. Accept the holiday but DONT sign anything - yes you will have a long long talk on buting a timeshare or likewise - dont be fooled, my parents were!!

As for the holiday if you want to take it, take it  but Dont allow then to book your flights for you, flights with them will be expensive and if it is a holiday for this year, you may be paying more for your flights from a travel agent than you would for a package holiday somewhere of your choice.

If you accept the holiday, be prepared to again be bludgeoned into buying a timeshare - it will be  claused that for the free holiday, you agree to attend a showing of the homesd out there - beware you will sit in the hot sun, listening to a load of banter with one drink and a toasted sandwich in your hand wheb they had previously told you Light refreshments will be provided!!!

  3. Usual catch is that whilst misrepresented as a 'prize' the promoters are hoping to sell you something on the back of this.

Holiday homes are one of the worst rackets.

The mobsters 'take up' any un-sold spare bedrooms @ holiday hotels - and know if you're gullible enough to spend the money travelling to London - to collect your 'prize' you might also be easily sold the idea of investing in a long term holiday home.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

As you've already worked out - it is a catch and even if you get a 'prize' holiday (much at your own expense) it will be spoilt by constant harrassment from sales people.

  4. Scam Very high pressure sale  Dont reply

  5. Have you won the holiday or have you been awarded the holiday.  Be careful with the wording,  they "award" you a holiday but make it sound like you've won something.  As you've been awarded the holiday you simply have to pay the admin, and maybe flight supplements (when you could fly cheaper), and accomodation add-ons, and food........If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I was "awarded" a holiday and looked into the details. I then looked up the company and the directors and they were dodgy.  THey are a merketing company not a holiday company so they just want to sell you something - Either at the talk or on the holiday.

Google the name of the company and see what you get

  6. Yes you have won a holiday, most likely spain or portugal. I had the same a few years ago. Tell them to stuff it. They just want to get you out there to pump you full of promises to get you to buy time shares. You might think it ok to say your not buying but wait till they get you there, they do not give up. Your heading for trouble if you accept because they can be very persuasive, be warned.

  7. It's a scam sweatheart, you will have real hard sell for probably longer than 2 hours, and what you have to contribute to the holiday will increase and even if you went (daft if you did) you would be subjected to hard sell there as well.  Remember, there is no such thing as a 'free lunch', everything gets paid for somewhere.
