Iveta Benesova ejects Anastasiya Yakimova in 1st round – Hansol Korea Open 2011
Czech Iveta Benesova got the better of Belarusian Anastasiya Yakimova in the opening draw of the Hansol Korea Open 2011. Both the players battled it out on the hard courts of Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, South Korea on the 20th of September 2011. After one hour and twenty eight minutes of play, higher ranked Benesova won in straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Commencing the first set was Benesova, who has achieved two WTA titles, the last one at Fes and with plenty of experience opened the set by smashing an ace at 40-love and successfully bagged the first game without any opposition.
However, in the next game Yakimova held her serve and also eased on to the scoreboard by attaining 1-1. In the following four games both players kept on winning on their respective serves and rounded the score to a 3-3.
During the seventh game Benesova went on to breaking her adversary for the first time and was able to hold her serve in the eighth game which gave her a sagacious edge that she required.
By the ninth game she was now looking to bag the game point by breaking her opponent for the last time and as she broke her opponent she clogged a flawless opening set against the Belarusian at 6-3.
After winning the first set her confidence boosted to a newer level and with the crowd behind her back; she effortlessly set the tone for a second set victory. Amidst the second set King was first to serve and the two players held their own in the first two games. However, the two were able to break each other back to back in the following two games to square off the score at 2-2.
Benesova then went on to winning on her serve in the following game and finally hacked how to break her opponent. Benesova broke her adversary twice in the remaining games and by holding her own service games she bagged the second set with a relatively easy victory.
Out of the two, Benesova was the better player and was expertly able to secure a place in the second round of the event.
