Despite Jupp Heynckes’ desire to retain all his players, Ivica Olic might leave Allianz-Arena in January transfer window...
Out of favour Bayern Munich striker, Ivica Olic, has reinstated his desire of parting ways with the club during the upcoming January transfer window. The player has mananged little playing time under Jupp Heynckes, and that has become frustrating for the
Croatian international.
Olic recently recovered from a long term injury and was expected to deputise for Mario Gomez. However, the player has been confined to the bench more often than not and only started Bayern’s last game against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The striker didn’t do himself any favours by staying goalless and ended up with just a yellow card despite playing the entire game. Bayern lost that game by a 2-0 margin but still managed to qualify for the knockout stages as the group toppers.
Bayern manager, on the other hand, had previously stated his desire of retaining all his players during the winters, irrespective of attractive offers from abroad or within the country.
Jupp Heynckes also admitted to Olic’s frustration but advised him to be patient if he wants to secure a regular place in the starting XI. He reckoned that the Croatian shouldn’t lose his calm as he still needs more time to fully recover from the injury.
Olic, on the other hand, denied his manager’s claims and announced himself match fit. He added that he would love to utilise his remaining two-three years on the pitch instead of warming the bench.
While talking to Kicker, the 32-year-old further mentioned:
“I am no longer a young player, I have two or three years left to play. I have to use my time. As for a winter switch, I'm not sure, but [even] if I stay, I will be gone in the summer.”
Olic has recently been linked with a move to VfL Wolfsburg during January, as Die Wolfe look to strengthen their strike force in order to get their season back on track.
The Croatian international has managed only seven league appearances this season, of the total 42 that he has made during his two-year stint so far.
