Ivor’s Princess and Al Wajba in for close collision in the Jayne Ferguson Memorial Fillies’ Handicap
Even though the ground conditions for the Class 4 Jayne Ferguson Memorial Fillies’ Handicap are heavy, Ivor’s Princess still enjoys the 5 to 2 edge. The last two races that she bagged were coupled with the good ground conditions, this time however, it will be intriguing to watch if she will be able to pull through successfully.
Sharing the seven furlongs and nine yards’ track with her at Leicester will be five other three-year-old runners. Backed up by similar odds in the field today is, Al Wajba.
Atraf’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Rosina May, is unbeaten in the two seasonal outings. Ivor’s Princess won the Manor Farm Meats Handicap (Division I) on 17th May, 2012 at Salisbury over six furlongs. Riding with jockey, Sean Levey, she set the favourite runner up of the race, Royal Reyah, at a disadvantage of 1 ¾ lengths.
She then dictated the terms of the Bathwick Tyres Fillies’ Handicap on 17th June, 2012 at Salisbury over seven furlongs. For a straight second time, settling as the runner up after Ivor’s Princess, was the favourite of the race. Rivas Rhapsody missed success by five lengths.
She has not raced at Leicester before, and her first attempt there will be in partnership with jockey, Sean Levey. The two have been allotted the first stall and capturing the race today will take form of the seasonal hat trick.
Potential threat for her success today is Al Wajba, Ghostzapper’s three-year-old chestnut filly out of mare, Crystal Symphony. She is not unbeaten, but has the profile graced with a second and first position in the two seasonal starts.
She kick started the season on 7th May, 2012 in the Davisbakerycaribbean.Com Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Windsor over a mile and half a furlong. Breaking the maiden was, Flaxen Flare.
The three-year-old then went all out in the North Sea Logistics Fillies’ Handicap on 1st June, 2012 at Newcastle over a mile. She won by a slight neck’s margin.
With Jimmy Fortune onboard, she might as well engineer the tactic to steal away the race from Ivor’s Princess and post the straight second success of the season.
