  1. It's possible that the piece of jewelry in question was made from fossilized Woolly Mammoth Ivory, which is totally legal to collect and trade.  Most of it comes from Siberia.  It is also possible that the jewelry is antique, which means (at the time) the Elephant or Walrus Ivory was collected legally.  Then again, it may be made of bone, could come from any number of legally collected species.  Or, as you've suggested, it could be Tagua.

CITIES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species) just authorized a huge sale of Elephant Ivory to Japan, but it is the first of its kind in about 20 years.

Yes, you are a tree hugger.  And animal hugger, and earth worshipper, and dirt princess.  So am I.  Enjoy the good company!

  2. well i think the poachers are to blame for that. i mean animals like elephants die everyday of natural causes either old age;sick or by another animal. there is absolutely no reason for a healthy animal to be killed like they do with elephants. i aint sure if the usa does it or not but some countries ivory period is illegal cause they say there is no way to know if its from a poached animal or one that died naturally. you would think that poachers if they had any brains would go after animals that died naturally. its harder to find and stuff like that making the price go up. just goes to prove if ur a criminal ur brain dead lol

  3. yes u are a treee hugger

  4. I'm a tree hugger too :D
