The Goethe Institutes are offering courses all over the world. Maybe there is one close to where you live. If not, they might point you at local groups offering courses.

Do it at night, there are many free resources on the web (search "free German course", "Free German phrases for travelers", etc.), but the best you can do afterwards is go and live in the country, to practice and consolidate what you learned.
