Iztok Utrosa crushes Matthias Almer to land title berth at Slovak Open 2012
Slovenia’s top shuttler Iztok Utrosa showed his impressive skills on court and landed a title berth after punishing Austria’s Matthias Almer in Men’s Singles semi-final clash at the Victor Slovak Open 2012 on Saturday, September 8, in Slovakia.
The incredible Utrosa, who entered into the tournament as top seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles category, showed his hard-to-learn skills on court and managed to overpower his lower ranked Austrian rival in a superb fashion.
The top seeded Utrosa played to his maximum abilities on court without showing even a little sign of confusion and managed to finish up this semi-final clash in straight games with a phenomenal margin in just 35 minutes.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Matthias played quivering badminton as he could not put up strong show against his top seeded opponent and eventually went down in a vulnerable fashion without showing his worth on court.
The opening set of this clash was entertaining for the Slovak crowd as both contestants showed aggressive approach and remained neck-to-neck in the opening half.
They played with speed and accuracy which kept them intact until the break when no one could establish a clear lead.
Nevertheless, the higher ranked Slovenian shuttler played with precision after the mid-game interval and managed to grab a reasonable lead.
Utrosa was on a different level in the concluding phase of opening set and he managed to take the game with a convincing 21-17 margin on the board.
In the following set, Matthias failed to maintain his speed on court and remained struggling to take the bird early which helped Utrosa to easily take charge of the game.
The Slovenian shuttler played positive badminton and got a strong position on score board until the end of opening half.
After the interval, Utrosa remained consistent on court and put up strong show without showing any mercy to his rival. He bagged the set in a spectacular manner with a huge 21-13 score on the board.
The higher ranked Utrosa emerged as the winner in this semi-final clash in straight sets with a lopsided score of 21-17 and 21-13.
