  1. Read "Founding Brothers" By Joseph Ellis.

It's amazing, it makes them seem as people and not demi-gods

It is verbose at points, but it is a REAL good piece of literature

  2. Mark Summers' Listmania on Amazon.com (see the link below) has a good list that includes titles on both Jefferson and Hamilton.  I've read 3 on the list and found all of them interesting.

  3. James Madison and Alexander Hamilton were the ones who wrote the agenda for the Constitution .   Jefferson was not there;  he was in France as an ambassador and had very little to do with the Constitution.

Later, Jefferson and Hamilton became bitter enemies.  J was a republican and H was an ardent Federalist.

The best information I have gathered is from the book  "John Adams" by  David McCullough which has all the history of the the first Presidents.  and the writing of the Constitution including Jefferson's interactions with John Adams, and later his interactions with Alexander.  The book gives you a whole view of the period which I think you will find more interesting than individual studies.

I too am reading about about the early American history and Am fascinated  by it---I am 65 by the way---and just beginning to really enjoy history.  I can't read enough.

    Enjoy you studies.!
