I’m 46 years old and I have three wonderful (and grown-up) sons, ages 23, 21 and 17, and my dh and I are expecting our fourth soon (I’m 27 weeks pregnant). Thing is, I’m feeling out of place being a pregnant woman in her mid-forties. I can’t relate to any of my girlfriends; they say that they are through having children, and love having an empty nest with their husbands. I am so looking forward to having this baby and giving him (yes...it’s another boy!) all the love he needs, but I’m just wondering if there are any other pregnant mom on this board going through what I’m going through. I’d love to share experiences!

  1. my situation is slightly different but i know what you mean. i have 10 week old twins, and a 16 and 12 year old.

when i announced i was pregnant last summer many people were quite negative (my sister who was once my best friend told me off for being stupid and throwing the rest of my life away - we ended up having a blazing row and our relationship is ruined).

i suppose that just as my older kids were becoming more independent i should have been looking forward to more freedom and peace and quiet. my life has been very difficult and my partner committed suicide when i was 29. i am in a second relationship with a wonderful man and we will get married when we recover from the exhaustion of newborn twins!! anyway, although the age thing isnt an issue for me (im in my mid thirties), most people thought i was mad to be starting all over again. my attitude is that my older kids still need to be looked after and a mother is a mother no matter what age she or her kids are!!

never mind what others say, enjoy ur new baby and good luck!!

  2. Wish you best of luck. Love that baby and be happy
