People are saying that I can’t because the medical insurance company that I would get may not cover my pregnancy because it would be considered pre-existing. Is that true?

  1. I wouldnt try to get a new job. When i was pregnant i hated my old job with a passion. i work in a nursing home. Youu ever see that sign equal employment....ITS A LIE.....if you are pregnant the odds of someone hiring you is so slim it is crazy they look at you like your going to be on leave soon. i would wait untill you have your child and during your six weeks of maternity leave serch your butt off for a new job. well thats what i did. oh yah and with the insurence issue try too look for medical programs

  2. This isn't necessarily true. It depends on whether you have insurance now, what kind it is, and how long you've had it.

Review the HIPPA laws that pertain to your situation.

  3. there's a couple things to consider. one is the insurance, a new insurance company may not want to take you on and another is people will be hesitant to hire someone knowing in a matter of months they will be taking weeks off. if they need someone in that job, it's hard to imagine training them and then they're gone and you have to train someone to fill in while they're on leave.

i'm not trying to discourage you but you may want to think about those things!

    best wishes and congrats :-)

  4. I am not sure but I think that it is so... Sorry!

  5. You need to check into the insurance company that you will be getting first.  My husband got a new job while I was pregnant with my first and a pregnancy was not considered pre-existing and I was fully covered.  Another thing to look at would be the probation period.  Is it insurance upon hire or a 90 wait time?

On another note, Really consider getting a new job during this time.  Will the employer be willing to work with your maternity leave or if there are any complications during the pregnancy that will cause you to miss work?  I would hate to see you take a job and something happen and you were let go.  Will you be able to handle the stress of a new job while pregnant?  There is alot of pros and cons you should think through first.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and Good Luck!!

  6. It's funny that you should ask that, because I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to be moving right before my baby's born and I wanted to look for a job closer to the new house. But, when I checked into it, I wouldn't be able to get insurance and everyone is hesitant to hire a pregnant woman, because they don't want to train you and then have you leave them within months. Sorry, but it sounds like we are both in the same boat. Good luck!!

  7. No one will hire you, trust me I tried. They see you as a risk for one, and soon you will be on maternity leave. Why would they go through all that trouble? It sucks but, thats the way employers think.

  8. Most insurance companies will NOT cover pre-exsiting conditions and if you were pregnant before getting a policy - then your pregnancy is considered pre-exsisting.

This is why alot of pregnant women wind up on Medical and similar programs. Some insurances won't even cover pregnancy unless you specify you want that coverage and pay more...

  9. that is very true...i had to talk my roommate out of taking a new job until his wife has the baby because the new insurance would not cover it...the insurance will only cover the C-Section because its considered surgery and will only cover your stay in the hospital not your babies...i would suggest you stay with your job or see if you can contiune with your insurance but just pay for it all yourself until the baby is born and then check into getting insurance with your new job

  10. it mite b true but not everything is certain so y not ask

  11. yes it is true.  You have to have insurance BEFORE you get pregnant.  Besides, a company is not going to want to hire someone who in just a few months is going to need to go on maternity leave.  That is waisting money in training someone.

  12. Do you need a new job because of your pregnancy?

If that's the case you would still need to pass

    the 90 day probation period.

That is if your hired as a full-time employee.

Why don't you get state aid ?

  13. If it was previously covered by insurance when you transfer insurances to your new job you should be ok...
