The Frenchman spoke about his experience in England, as he finds the fans there very passionate about the game, with the derbies being a matter of life and death for them.
FC Lorient forward, Jeremie Aliadiere spoke about the difference he felt while playing in the English Premier League and the French Ligue 1 during an interview, stating that English football fans tend to be more passionate about domestic football than his
French compatriots. The player feels that the French football fans don’t exhibit the same level of intensity. He also commented about Les Merlus’ upcoming fixture with Stade Rennais FC.
Aliadiere feels that there is a great deal of difference between the two leagues he played, each having their own dynamics. The 29-year-old striker stated that English derbies tend to be a furious encounter between two sides, who reflect the fans extreme
passion in them. The Frenchman said:
“You can't really compare them to be honest. The derbies I played in the UK were Arsenal versus Spurs or even Middlesbrough against Sunderland or Newcastle.”
The winger finds the French approach towards football to be calm and reasonable, as he went on to highlight English fanaticism in football. The player disliked the fact that football games are a matter of life or death for English fans, as they should learn
to accept results without causing havoc about them. He went on to express his point-of-view:
“The derbies here are not as fanatical as those in England. It's obviously a big game and a game that the fans want to win but it won't be the end of the world for them if they don't.”
The Frenchman added:
“They are not as passionate as the people in the UK so it's not as big.”
