J.B. Holmes back with a bang after brain surgery
Even though he is playing in his fourth PGA Tour, J.B. Holmes is all set to act as aggressively as possible to establish his mark in the event Northern Trust Open, currently underway at Riviera golf course.
He got a major breakthrough of his career after he started to show signs of recovery following his brain surgery.
With the help of the first five holes that he was able to strike a successful birdie, he was able to secure a four-under-par 67.
Since the beginning of the 2012 PGA Tour, Holmes has been able to register his best performance of his career so far.
He intends to secure his third victory on the US Circuit, so that he is able to clinch a commendable position in the world ranking.
According to 29-year-old Kentucky golfer, "Overall it was a really good day for me. We got about four holes where the wind wasn't blowing, so it was whipping most of the day on us".
He continued, "Coming in (on his back nine) I made some bogeys, a couple of them were bad breaks and a couple of them I just hit a bad shot".
He further added that since the launch of his campaign at Northern Trust, he was going through a proper mindset of how and what he exactly he needed to do.
It was precisely because of this mindset that he was able to place some birdies and other putts in an effective manner.
Furthermore, it was also luck that favoured him in initiating his campaign at the par-four 10th hole.
This was important for him because of the high speed and gusting winds that created havoc in the golf course.
It is important to mention here that on the 10th hole, it is the crosswind that the golfer has to battle against in order to tee it off as effectively as possible.
After scoring birdies at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 14th holes, Holmes believed that once he encounters downwind he will be able to score a couple of more birdies.
Holmes made his re-entry in golf at the Farmer’s Insurance Open that took place last month.
Prior to the event, he was under special medical supervision since he was diagnosed with Chiari malformation.
