J. J. Hardy trade on track for Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles
The winter Meetings are scheduled to end on Thursday and before the event ends, major signings are going to be confirmed for the month. There has already been an influx of activity all around. Major free agents in the market have
made their transition to ball teams. However, there are still a good number of people left on the list, who remain on the sidelines, unclaimed. The biggest deal to come through recently, signalled the start of the event on Monday. Now, things are looking positive
as the week closes out to an end.
The Washington Nationals claimed Jayson Werth on a 7-year deal, amounting up to $126 million and now the Boston Red Sox have broken the scale with their signing of Carl Crawford. The player has made the transition from being a
Tampa Bay Rays player to being a Red Sox hitter. The winter meetings are showing their power over the recent days and that has been lifting many eyebrows in the recent days.
One deal that has been progressing slowly is the one that involves James Jerry Hardy of the Minnesota Twins. The ball club has been looking to offload the player to make room for Japanese infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka.
The Chiba Lotte Marines player, Nishioka, has been involved in a negotiation process with the Twins and while he has been looking to make his way to the Stateside, the club has been trying to sort out the formation back home. Hardy,
who was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers, last season, is considered an extra player in the roster, which is why he is being considered for a trade.
The Baltimore Orioles are the team looking for a shortstop and while their pursuit of one has not gone well thus far, Hardy looks like a deal to mature. President of the Orioles Baseball Operations, Andy MacPhail has claimed the
side has interacted with the Twins, but he has gone ahead to say the club has also met with the Rays and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hardy, who averaged .286 with the bat, slammed 6 home runs and drove home 38 runs. The player will most likely be traded to Orioles soon, given the nature of the deal. However, two minor league pitchers are going to head the other
way to complete exchange.
The question remains, though; will J.J. Hardy solve the Orioles on the front lines against left hand pitchers?
