J.J Killeen to join Unforgettables event to support the foundation – Golf news
For the last two years, J.J Killeen has come to San Jacinto to pick-up identical fifth-place finishes at the Nationwide Tour Soboba Golf Classic, which has now moved him on to the next goal, which is to earn a PGA Tour card.
This year, after what he hopes will be an even higher finish, he will be staying a little longer for a day to help with The Unforgettables Soboba Classic Shootout for the Killeen Family Fund.
Dr. David Killeen, a vascular surgeon in Loma Linda and J.J.’s uncle, has partnered with The Unforgettables Foundation, which is working with families who are unable to pay for funerals of their children. The foundation helps them financially and arranges
funerals for them.
“My uncle asked me to help and I said I'd be more than happy to help out with it,” said Killeen, whose $387,304 in winnings make him the top money-winner on tour entering play this week and also the leader in charge of 25 players who will earn PGA Tour status
next season.
He added, “I want them to be as successful as they can with it. I have a daughter who's 1, and even though I can't really understand what these people are going through, I can imagine. So anything I can do to help the cause, of course I'll do it.”
The charity tournament is going to be held at the Country Club Soboba Springs. It is set to be a challenging event, which should not be a problem for a player who is going to appear at the golf’s premier tour in six weeks.
While talking about the course, Killeen said that he has always played well in Southern California, partly because he grew up here. Killeen has won back-to-back tournaments this season by shooting 22-under-par.
Killeen wished the foundation well, stating that he has a one-year-old daughter as well, and although he cannot understand what families at the foundation are going through, he feels for them and wants to do as much as he can to help out.
