Same as the latin phrase, fortune favours the brave. Basically means those prepared to take chances will ultimately be more successful than those too timid to take any risks.

I think it's basically saying that you have to take risks. You can't really live life to the fullest if you're always so scared of being rejected. It's great to be "safe" but think of all the wonderful things you're missing out on.
