  1. jamaica is my country when you come u will love it our food our people our music our culture and our love!bring ur sun block jamaica is bigg also we have 14 parish you cnat explore the hole island in one day when people beg you for money ignore them and do go in the heart of kingston is a little dangerous we have our hurricane season but if i was u live in montego bay or ocho rios or port antonio its more quiet and dont mind people bizniz and if u go into town dont put gold chains and put money in ur bra or shoe hope u like it jamaica land we love!

  2. Are you planing to work? to have a job? or are you just going chill?

I suggest living in Kingston (if you plan to work) or Montego Bay (if you are planning to just 'chill'). Mobay rent is generally cheaper than in kingston.

The MAIN recommendation is that you should try to have as many local friends as possible even before moving. Even 3 friends who live in the area you plan to be in, can help to guide you with regards to safety and other social adjustment issues.

  3. Why are you planning to live in Jamaica for 6 months?  If it's for work and you already have a job, ask they company you are going to work for.  If you hope to get a job when you get there, dream on as there aren't that many jobs and pay is low.  If you are going to become a beach bum, try the St. Elizabeth and south west coastal area or Port Antonio and north east coastal area as those are off the tour route but still have nice beaches.  Life is pretty much like any place else.  I'd avoid Kingston as there isn't that much to do there, especially if you plan on visiting beaches.  The cost of living depends on how you want to live.  If you live like a local it's fairly cheap (about 500 US$or less/month not counting rent).

  4. be careful it can be a very dangerous place.

  5. well it rally depends on what u plan to do here. If ur planning to work the best place is Kingston. If you want to relax and chill i suggest the coastal parishes like St. James or St Ann. The rent in Kingston is more expensive than those in the rural areas. Also if you're a party person Kingston is 4 u cause they have clubs and NUFF (a lot)  of parties. Trust me them good if u into dancehall (music) and those things. one advice though dont be naive and make sure u know people here before u come so they can show you the ropes. and mek sure you go Bembe thursdays b4 u leave. lol the ting sell off!!

  6. i think you will have loads of fun and exciting things to do but if you are not planning to work i think that you are going to be in some form of problem FINANCIALLY.the cheapeat rent you may find is about $9000 jamaican per month if you really like the beach then i suggest you check out Portland cuz it is very peaceful and the people are very friendly. There is a place called ital village where people like you can rent rooms and live for the six months you want to spend.Contact me for further info.
