ok so i have to read jane eyre book from bronste, for my advance english class. thingis i have been studying for my test i have coming up plus i have like 4 days until school time. so i want to watch the movie because i have no other option. i have gotten a hold of the 2006 bbc version with TOBY STEPHENS AND RUTH WILSON. and the 1983 version with TIMOTHY DALTON. for those who have read the novel. which of these 2 or any of the jane eyre version is the closest to the book itself. and will keep me from failing all summer reading test.

also what is the closest pride and prejudice

  1. I am not sure which movie is best - possibly watch both of them. It is more than half a lifetime since I read Jane Eyre, and I really cannot remember specific details of the novel other than very generally. However, these sites should help you with your work with it.

  2. The 1983 Timothy Dalton version is the most accurate, and it is another BBC version.

    Edit:

According to http://www.epinions.com/review/mvie_mu-1... , the 1995 BBC version of Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is the most accurate. I've seen it, but I haven't read the book.

  3. Well the pride and prejudice film with keira knightley is so similar that when i started reading the book after watching the film it was surprising how exact the film was - even a lot of the quotes used are the same.

I havnt read jane eyre - yet - but the bbc version is very good and i would definitely recommend it. last for four hours i think and i loved it - not sure on accuracy with the book though x x

  4. Try and find the BBC version of Jane Eyre. Your library may have it. Their versions are always the most accurate. Same with Pride and Prejudice.

For the record though those books are great and you really should try to read them even if it's after the movie.

  5. I would advise the 1996 version featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg. Here's a link to where you could get more information about the film:-

For Pride and Prejudice, I would definitely advise the 1995 BBC version featuring Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. I loved it. Here's a link to it:-

I have not watched the film with Keira Knightley but the poster I saw of it was not what I expected, especially in their mode of dressing, etc.

    Hope this helps!

this link will give you a detailed summary of the book.

Also - if you want movies that are similar to the books you listed Masterpiece Theater has them. It is a PBS broadcast. I have seen ever Jane Austin and other female writer's movies and they are the closest.
