  1. I was always under the impression that more than one JANET existed. But anyway, they couldn't move so many people by bus, so it must still by around.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure about 20 different satellites are watching you now...

  2. jorden, wats the name of the new base

  3. I live in Las Vegas, yes they exist and are still operating - they are located on Haven Street between the Corporate Hangars (to the North) and the Sundance Helicopters (to the South) - (Haven is one street East of the Strip).  It is a gated parking lot with a security guard with it's own private terminal.

Pretty easy to find if you know where your going.  I've driven by it a few times and seen a half dozen or so of their all white with a red strip Boeing 737 parked on the ramp.

As far as I know they fly every day - in fact I can not think of a time, that I have driven by the Airport and have not seen one of their flights coming or going.

  4. Cherokee is correct..."Janet" flights transport military and civilian workers to "51"...

if you are ever in Las Vegas, in the far corner of the airport (my directions are upside down right now, but they are right in front of you when you look out the hotel windows if you are staying on the Blvd side of Luxor) you can see the plain white wrapper jets, 737's I think?

  5. "Janet" is the call sign for the flights that shuttle workers back and forth between Area 51, TTR and Las Vegas. Each weekday about 20 flights in each direction transport between 1000 and over 1500 workers from Las Vegas to their jobs at Area 51 and at the Tonopah Test Range.

The Janet airline is operated by EG&G, a private contractor that provides services such as security to Area 51. They operate a fleet of six Boeing 737's and five smaller Beechcraft King Air turboprops. The planes are all white, with no airline name or logo. The 737's all have a red stripe along the sides. The planes are registered to the "Department Of The Air Force" in Layton, UT

  6. They "Moved" away to another place in Colorado. Well, the whole "Area 51" crew. I believe they "moved" quite some years ago, but still did the airlines as a cover for moving, because now they don't acknowledge another airbase in Colorado and just started doing this a couple of years ago. But I don't know, the public isn't let in on this because of National Security and stuff.
