  1. Many kids go to juku after school, which is an after school cram school for learning the same things you learn at school, just more intense. Or they might take various classes for music, sports, etc. I don't know about now but probably it's still true, that it's a requirement to belong to a club in your school in Japan. The club meets after school and the clubs are for various activities. I joined the ping-pong club.

Here's links to a couple schools in Japan and a list of their clubs, but it's all in Japanese so I'll tell you what some of them are. They are divided by category.

Sports: aikido, karate, kendo, golf, soccer, gymnastics, softball, tennis, basketball, badminton, volley ball, wrestling, rugby, track and field

Culture: English, drama, organ, science, home economics, flower arrangement, orchestra, glee club, tea ceremony, Japanese calligraphy, computer, fine arts, literature, poetry, broadcasting, YWCA

  2. This is the English language website of the school I went to in Japan. It should have information on the activities offered at the school: http://www.meitoku-gijuku.ed.jp/mis/engl...

    Good luck with the assignment!
