JBWere Australian Masters 2010; Adam Bland and Alistair Presnell take the first round lead
Adam Bland and Alistair Presnell took the first round lead at the JBWere Australian Masters 2010, which took place at Victoria Golf Club, Melbourne.
Both the players clinched a score of 6-under-65 to take a share in the top most of the leader board, which is worth $1.35 million.
Adam Bland teed off from the front nine and par all the eight holes to understand the requirements of the course. However, he managed a sole birdie on the par-3 8th to finish the round at 1-under-par. Next half was a total blast. The Aussie geared
himself for the birdie fiesta by picking a 6-feet putt at the 13th. However, after that he shot four birdies in a row starting from the 15th.
Alistair Presnell saw the scores falling low and decided to grab a share in them. Therefore, the player kicked off from the back nine and picked two birdies on his way to wrap the half with two-under. However, the real drama started on the outward holes,
when Presnell made a hat-trick at 4, 5 and 6 to wrap the first round with a glorious eagle. Presnell could not stay in the lead, owing to a bogey, which he drafted on the 9th hole.
Meanwhile, Geoff Ogilvy opened the round with a score of one-over helped by four bogeys and three birdies. On the other hand, the world number two gave a better performance in pursuit of the debut victory in the year 2010. Tiger Woods drafted a round of
two-under-par with the help of three birdies and one bogey.
Last year’s runner-up, Stuart Appleby par the first round to remain in contention up till the final. The winner of Greenbrier Classic 2010, picked up two birdies, but gave them back after drafting equal number of bogeys on Thursday.
Hence, so far Adam Bland and Alistair Presnell have taken the lead in the first round of the JBWere Australian Masters 2010.What will happen if an Aussie claims the title and Tiger Woods enters the next year without the title? What if Sergio Garcia breaks
