JBL or Harman Kardon?! (surround sound speakers) HELP!!?

Which set of speakers are better: the JBL CS6100 or the Harman Kardon HKTS 18? Which would be a better choice for a medium sized living room?... Which is a more reliable brand? please elaborate

You are asking the right question but to the wrong people! There is only person who can answer this question and that is you!

See, we all have different perceptions of what we like and don't like in distortions when it comes to music. Only you can determine what you like and don't like in a sound.

Bring your favorite CDs and listen to the setup with the same equipment or as close to what you will have at home. Spend no less than 30 minutes listening to each system with several CDs of your own, not the stores. Then buy the one you like the most.

Both brands you mention are well known and are good quality equipment.  JBL has its own unique sound, as does HK, BA, etc.  Listen to them and buy what you like the best.

Remember, if I told I loved the Harmon Kardon system, it would be great for when I am sitting on your couch listening to music or watching a movie, but when I leave you have to listen to it, so buy what you like the best.  

Remember, even if you spent 27,000 dollars on a pair of Shahinian Diapazions, it doesn't mean you will be happy with the purchase later.  So, buy what you like and can be happy with in the long haul.

harman/kardon rock on its way better even though jbl is woned by harman/kardon....

I like the Harmon Kardon better, but the Klipsch or Boston Acoustics brand seem to have a better response overall....

First of all Harmon Kardon owns JBL so.....   But Anyway I have an HKTS14 in my bedroom and it is GREAT for a little system.  Also there is an Ebay store called Harmon audio. They sell refurbished jbl, infinity and HK stuff.  I have bought from them 3 times and am 100% happy. The HK system in my Bedroom cost me 150 and new it is 5 or 600.  It comes with the same warranty and acsesories just like new everything I bought from them has been GREAT, brand new.    It would pay to give it a shot.  Normally I would say it is important to listen for yourself in a store but it is hard to find HK stuff in stores but for the cost I can tell you from all the systems I listened to in stores the HK quality was comperable to all the $1000  systems I heard and a fraction of the cost because I bought it from ebay.  You will also LOVE the subwofer that is what HK has over most the other systems out there you get a BIG BOOMING sub when most other systems you get a less impressive sub and the sattelites are about the same.  Good luck!!
