JBWere Australian Masters; Tiger Wood drops head in the third round
Tiger Woods wrapped the third round of JBWere Australian Masters at par.
The defending Champion is on the brink of losing his title after attaining 68 in the first round, over-par score in the second and 71 in the third. Tiger Woods teed off from the front with an early blow on the second hole. The 34-year-old failed to cater
the requirements of overcast conditions and picked one more bogey on the sixth hole. To counter off the threats, Woods smashed a birdie in the preceding hole and carved a birdie on par-3 seventh. However, he could not keep up with the momentum and bogeyed
another hole to bring the score down. Tiger Woods wrapped the first nine holes of the Victoria Golf Club with one-over-par.
To drag the score back into the realms of par, Tiger Woods parred all the holes, except the last. He walked away with a birdie and disappointment on his face. The world number two has a fair idea that he will step in the next year without a victory for the
first time in 14 years.
Meanwhile, the runner-up from the last year’s tournament scored a 69 and wrapped the 3-day session with a two-under. Stuart Appleby has an edge of one stroke over Tiger Woods. The player, who picked up an eagle in the second round, carved five birdies against
one bogey and single-double bogey in the third round.
Similar score was chased by Geoff Ogilvy. The Australian smacked a 69 with the help of three birdies and one bogey. Defending champion of Senior Australian PGA Championship, Peter Senior managed a round of 72 to seize a share in top 27th. The
veteran took a withdrawal from the Australian PGA Championship, which is in process at Sydney to compete Tiger Woods. Despite of being confident, 51-year-old could not manage to put a fair fight against the rain and the former world number one.
Sergio Garcia who smashed the course lowest on Friday is yet to tee off on the par-71 course.
The JB Were Australian Masters is currently undergoing in Victoria Golf Club, Melbourne.
