I have a 1995 kawasaki 900 zxi.

This morning when i went out on the lake, the RPM's only went to about 6200, when they normally reach 7400. I figured it was only running on two (out of three) cylinders. So i drove drove back to the beach, popped the spark plug caps off and all three of them we warm, which means they were all working. Also when its running, it makes a humming/whining noise. (hard to explain)

Does anyone out there know what the problem could be?

  1. Checck the shaft and the prop for weeds.

  2. it probally a bearing around the impeller unit that going out. that explains the humming noise.

  3. Just because they were warm dosnt meen they were working.

  4. check the compression of the cylinders

       MIKE

  5. spark plugs would have been my first guess also. my next guess would be the impeller. pretty inexpensive problem. i would take it to somebody to get that replaced though. hope it helps

  6. The temp of the spark plug is not a good indicator of spark.  Replace them.  The Thrust (main) bearing can be lubed, so do that also.  Be careful but check the intake and impeller for trash that you might have sucked in.  AND  put fresh fuel in the tank. Good luck!!!!
