I have a chance to get 2 13w7's for 600 dollars which everyone knows is an excellent deal.

My problem is that I know I should us 2 jl 1000/1 amps to power these, let alone being really expensive, I don't think I should put that much power in my car being that Id need to upgrade my alternator and such.

Could I run them off just one and have it be fine, or can someone give me better options for this. If i can figure this out I'd go buy them.

Thanks in advance.

  1. 1 Jl is plenty enough power, they make some great quality stuff.

  2. Either way your going to need over 1k watts of power. anything under it 1k will be underpowering them.

  3. just look for an amp that will give you 2000 to 3000 wrms @ 3 ohms and wire both speakers in series.  A 1000/1 is in no way, shape, or form, any better than any other quality amplifier, it just costs more.  It doesn't perfectly match the w7s or anything like that, it is simply an amplifier with a regulated power supply.  One sundown audio saz3000d will do the same job, just as well, only will give you about 2000 watts @ 3 ohms as opposed to the 1000 watts that a 1000/1 will give you in the same situation.  Oh and the sundown is about half of the price.
