JOB with the U.S Postal Services?

I have went back to school and have been thinking on what career I would like to have.. I really would like to get a job working for the U.S Postal Services, but someone I told this to was real negative about it.. They said its real difficult to get a JOB with them even if you pass the exams.. They said they USPS just laid a lot of people off.. and closed their sorting facility. Anyone with info please let me now.. I would like to know if this is a smart career choice..

Probably not. The Post Office is going through a huge crunch. They are expecting more and more from the hardest workers, while Postmasters and supervisors get fat on ridiculous bonuses.
