JP Duminy, the South African middle-order batsman, has claimed that he learnt a lot of new things by spending time away from the game and the left-hander is keen to perform well in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
“It's been a long road but I've learnt a lot about myself,” Duminy told ESPNcricinfo. “When you're out of the game for so long, you find out new things about yourself because you are focusing outside of cricket.”
The left-hander twisted his ankle while training during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 last year, which kept him out of competitive cricket. Duminy has not played any domestic cricket since then but the batsman from Cape Town has earned the faith of the selectors
for the mega event.
The 29-year-old cricketer knows that delivering the goods in international cricket will be a challenge for him as he is a little rusty. However, Duminy is confident about adjusting efficiently at the highest level of the sport.
“It's hard to say [if] I'm worried about form because I've got nothing to go by. I've got to go out there, thinking best when fresh [at the crease],” he said. “I am confident I can produce the goods I have in the past. I've played my role pretty well over
the last few years so it's just about slotting back in there.”
The middle-order batsman came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country and made his international debut in 2004. Over the last couple of years, Duminy has done exceedingly well in the shorter formats of the game and is considered to be one of the
most important players for the Proteas.
Duminy has so far played 17 Tests, 94 One Day Internationals and 42 T20 Internationals for South Africa, having scored more than four thousand runs with the help of four centuries and 23 half-centuries. In the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473,
