http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday. The Proteas managed a decent total despite struggling at the start of the innings.
William Porterfield won the toss for Ireland and elected to field first. The wicket was good for batting, but it was a two pace wicket, which can make things difficult for the batting side to some extent.
Both teams made one change to their playing 11. Colin Ingram was given a chance ahead of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 for this match whereas; Ireland replaced Andre Botha with Trent Johnston.
Hashim Amla and South African captain Graeme Smith started the innings decently for their team. However, Amla threw his wicket away after scoring a quick-fire 18 runs off 17 balls.
Smith failed to get going in today’s match, as he ran himself out this time, courtesy some efficient work in the field. The Proteas captain hasn’t been in the best of form during this year’s World Cup.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Dockrell-c59135.
Jacques Kallis found some form against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the previous match of the mega event. However, the veteran batsman failed to trouble the bowlers too much in today’s match, as he was run-out after scoring 19 from 31 balls.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faf-du-Plessis-c1427 then tried to steady the innings for their team, but du Plessis didn’t last long, as he got out after adding just 11 runs off 19 balls to the total. This brought World Cup debutant, Colin Ingram to the crease, who batted sensibly
with Duminy to take his team out of trouble.
The pair constructed a solid 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket, and took their team’s total over the 200-run mark. Ingram got out after scoring 46 runs from 43 balls. The youngster batted very well, but he would have been disappointed to miss out on
a half-century.
However, Duminy used his experience and batted well for his team. The left-hander got out in the final over of the innings on 99 off 103 balls. He deserved a century, but didn’t go for a single and tried to hit a six instead, which cost him his wicket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 remained unbeaten on 21 off 28 balls, and he played a vital part in taking his team’s total over 270.
Spinners George Dockrell and Paul Stirling bowled well for Ireland, as they took one wicket each and didn’t give away too many runs in their spell of bowling.
