  1. It wasnt all that hard really, just look at ur ref. tables, and use logic. If u paid attention in class u should do fine. i only missed 2 out of the 85 possible points and am taking it again b/c its rly easy and i know i can get a 100  and be the first to do so in my school's history.

  2. would distillation work for the one that was  to get the particles out of solution?

  3. I thought the test was hard but all my friends thought it was easy also what was the process used in the solublity question because i put filtration as one of the process

  4. Yeah, it was def. a lot harder than past years. I'm very nervous because it seems like a lot of them I didn't get... and the one's that I did get I'm scared my answers weren't detailed enough.. and that i'm not getting any credit for them! The smoke detector completely threw me... um I put one H and one OH as the products for titration... but really who knows? I put evaporation for that one question about seperating it... not sure if it's right. I also remember having 0.4 g as an answer.  I'm waiting for the answers to be put up online.

  5. for the last one it was all in the passage. The alpha particles create this eletric current and when smoke enters the detector it breaks the current signaling the sensor.

    any other questions?

  6. I thought it was insanely hard. I got 100's on every past regents and a 100 on every test in class but I only got a 74 on the regents.

  7. I also put distillation because it separates things with different boiling points. For the nuclear powre plant one I picked it was hard to dipose of waste but I was in between that one and the one about acid rain because I thought power plants give off some gas that causes acid rain or something. I had a problem with the multiple choice question about which element can fill up a 2.0L box uniformily. I picked Xe.

  8. wat was the answer for the half life one, (the last multiple choice question)  it made me feel like a big donkey was taking a large dump right on my chest!!!!!!!!!!

  9. yeah for titration a salt (ionic compound) and water form

so the products were KCl and H2O

i found it Ok, yet i have my doubts on some questions such as the molecular polarity and intermolecular forces.. WTF I fluffed that hahaha

the multiple choice was ok as long as you made proper use of the reference tables

Good Luck to all and stay positive about it

  10. i found the answers with the test online

    http://www.jmap.org/JMAP/IJMAP/Chemistry...

  11. yeah it was Xenon.  you have to take it's density which is in grams/mL and then divide it by two thousand to get your grams/2L but Xenon...I thought it was fairly difficult but i think i did alright

  12. the answer to the titration one was KCl and H20, because and Acid + base = salt and h20

  13. The titration question was the first question on the part two.  Acid + Base --> Salt + water (KCl + HOH were the right answers).  The method for separating the unsaturated solution could be evaporation, vaporization, boil, or distillation.  Filtration doesn't work because anything soluble in water will pass through a filter along with water.  Molecular polarity question should have been the halide is more polar than the hydrocarbon (more polar = higher boiling point); Intermolecular forces should have been halide has stronger IMF's (higher boiling point = stronger IMF's).  Smoke detector question:  Am has a longer half life than Fr so it is appropriate to use in smoke detector.  Last question = smoke interrupts the flow of charge particles causing the alarm to sound.  The mc question about problem with nuclear reactors is "disposing of the waste".

Question about completely filling a 2L box, would have to be a gas (all gases occupy the volume of their container....no definite shape or volume).  Sulfur is a solid.  Xe is a gas.

  14. i put distillation...yes i looked it up & im pretty sure itll be accepted =)

  15. yeah i thought the multiple choice wasnt bad, but the short answer was very hard. i ended up getting a 70 overall which i was very suprised, i thought i did a lot better than it turned out to be

Does anyone think its worth it to take it again, although i passed?

  16. Very last question...only one i can remember i was so frustrated. I had to leave like 14 MC blank then come back and guess on most of them....Ugh....I HATE CHEMISTRY!!!!

  17. What about the one with the wavelength. I put that it was the one with the spectre of electrons or something like that.

  18. Question 31 was insane! the one about the wave-mechanical model?? i was like wth? i seriously spent i good 20 minutes staring at that question and i narrowed it down to 3 awnsers right away and still couldnt get it!

and the one with like filling a uniform 2.0L thing?? i put sulfer bc i had no idea, but i understand why its Xe but i have neverr seen a question like that before!

  19. i feel like i skipped this OH and H one... products of titration? what was it asking/where was it?? people in my school were talking about it too but i dont remember such a question!! help!

  20. yo Chem T for the intermolecular forces and polarity of the halide and hydrocarbon, if would be the same if i said like vice versa of what u said like the halocarbon has lower bp b/c it has weaker intermolecular forces and is more non-polar?

  21. I agree...the ones about molecular polarity and the smoke detector TOTALLY threw me off. For the very last question, I felt like I was pretty much copying what was said in the paragraph, which I don't think was SO great. My teacher said it was a pretty hard regents, I think I did fine but some questions were very out of left field. Post more here so we can discuss answers and stuff.

I put evaporation to get the particles out of solution, which works.

  22. I think that this regents was harder than the previous ones that i took as practice.

It probably doesn't help that my teacher left 3 weeks ago because she was pregnant.

I hope that I don't have to take it again in August.

I hope that you all did good!

  23. that question were we had to explain it twice killed me!

and my teacher never went in depth with wavelength

and what the h**l was up with the last question?
