Sorry to ask this, but I would like to know. What do coaches do at tryouts? Like do they make you do drills? And how do they evaluate you?

  1. larger schools have tryouts. Smaller programs that are happy to have someone be interseted dont hold tryouts. yes, you still have drills and coaches do evaluate you.

  2. It depends on your postion then they have drills then a team on team scrimmage but it all depends on the coaches, they evaluate on your drills and how well you do how well you fit into the team gameplan and stuff like that like I said b4 it all depends but good luck 2 you

  3. It varies across the country. In HS sports, you show up, sign-up, go get a physical(THAT is required). Every coach has his own criteria for evaluating talent & ability. In some cases, trying hard, carries some value. Many Coaches have a "style" of football they want to play. Certain types of players are needed to fulfill that style. Some coaches evaluate the talent they have, THEN decide what he CAN do, based on the talent level of the players.

Bottom line- You've got to "show", if you want to know.

The ones who "want it" the most, will win their position. LEARN what THAT means!!

  4. yeah coaches really like it when u hustle. at my high school we have this thing i think its called like carnival? not sure, ill be reminded monday after training camp starts, but its like 7 stations of running and doing down-ups and all this endurance ****, but the coaches love it wen they have to tell u to stop running instead of telling u to get ur lazy *** up. also wen the team is running plays like offence or special teams, as soon as they ask for a replacement, jump up and say "ill do it coach", cause that lets them know ur willing to play any way that u can. and if ur school has a weight room, make sure that wen the coach is in there, ur in there, cause they like to see u working hard, even if ur not putting up 300 pounds, they just love it that ur in there.

  5. u scrimage varsity during practice

  6. They do every thing, i was a stand out Running back in High School and i broke my leg my first game of my Senior year and lost all of my scholarships, i had a full fide to Boston a D2 school.

  7. ha we dnt try out were im from we show ups and were on the team....

  8. well lets see here. When you try out they like to see how hard you work. When they tell you to do something no matter how tired you are just do it your best. Try to do everything with every ounce of energy you have. When they see that you are a workhorse they might just like you. Do everything they tell you to do and dont sit there and bs around with your teamates. Just do everything they tell you to do and do it correctly. If you have a question then just ask them. And when they talk to you answer by saying yes sir

  9. i would like to know 2. im trying out for freshman.

  10. Yes, at football tryouts the coaches will make you do different types of drills. Usually they will split up all the people trying out into different groups depending on the position they want to play. They will evaluate you on your skills/ability to play that position and how well you hustle and work hard. For example, if you want to play wide receiver they will look at your speed and ability to jump/catch. Or if you are a lineman they will want to see your strength and ability to block or tackle. A lot of coaches also like to see your enthusiasm to play. Always listen to the what the coaches say the first time and do what they ask with a lot of heart. Don't just "half-***" everything or play around with friends. Make sure you push yourself and try your hardest.
