Question:

JV or varsity volleyball?

I am a sophomore this year, and I know I would make the varsity team this year, but I would definitely not start, I would probably be the fourth best outside hitter on the team. I was one of the two best players on JV last year, and I have gotten much better with club volleyball since then. Should I stay on JV, be the captain and get lots of playing time, or go to Varsity and sit but still be able to practice at a higher level?

The Varsity coach has called my house and left a message that I could do either one.

  1. it's really up to you

To me starting isn't the biggest thing sophomore year thats more important when you're an upperclassmen heading to college  if i were in your shoes i would go with varsity that way even if you don't get as much playing time you get more intense practicing the best way to get better is by playing with people better than you

plus next year you'll be much better prepared for your competition

    best of luck =D

  2. Do JV for one more year. Prove to the varsity coach that you should be a starter next year.

  3. I think it depends on who you're playing with. If you're going to be playing with a bunch of people who don't know what they are doing, I wouldn't because you will get frustrated that they can't do certain things which will show the coach you don't have good leadership. And once you play down to their level, you'll start playing at their level. If the people on the JV team are pretty good, I would try swinging from varsity to JV. That way you can play with the JV, be the captain, and you can also play varsity.
